The word INTRODUCTION was in common use as early as the fourteenth century in France… … it means… to bring into existence _ Take a moment to consider that… before a thing was introduced TO YOU it did not exist. For hundreds of years a formal Letter of Introduction was required to meet anyone new… without an introduction from someone YOU literally did not exist. It was not only WHAT you knew it was WHO you knew… If you didn’t know anybody, you were nobody.

While that seems archaic to us today, modern research proves the power of giving introductions to increase engagement …   to survive we must care about each other, look after each other… it starts with Curiosity, Cura, means to care… and sharing is how we manifest caring.

Humans are tribal. We survive when we share, giving our time, our treasure, and our talent is the basis of the Reciprocity Principle… a culturally universal principle to humans… giving an introduction is sharing your Treasure… because the resources you have worked to collect in your NETWORK are valuable.

Introductions are one way we show people we got your back. “Here is someone or something that we believe can help you based on what we took time to learn about you…”

Introductions Enable Possibilities… Many of us got the jobs we have today through a referral made, a resource shared or a reference identified. Each of us has had someone open a door and introduce us to someone or something in their network that was life-changing for us. We do the same for others because it’s the right thing to do… whether it’s an introduction to a person, an article, a website… we’ve worked to collect those resources as if in a net…(literally our NETWORK) and when we open our network and we make introductions that make a difference for others we increase their engagement with us… not because of any expectation of reciprocity, but because it is the right thing to do.

Opening your network through introductions releases the power of Teamwork and increases engagement…We’re wired to care about each other. Curiosity leads to clarity about who you can connect. You have the opportunity, most every day, to make introductions that make a difference.
